One of the most deadly heresies that most of us have been taught in the schoolroom and that plainly contradicts the sacred scriptures is the evolution theory. This “doctrine of devils” which we often overlook has a great effect for it undermines belief in the Biblical account of creation and eventually leading to doubt in matters of the faith and the result is infidels. For a Christian, such a teaching should bring dread and fear, for if we fail to understand the import of the creation, we cannot know the creator and failing to know the creator is losing eternal life.
“This is life eternal that they may know thee, the only true God and Jesus Christ who thou hast sent.” John 17:3.
Without knowing the creator it is clear we have no eternal life. Now many Christians will easily say, “I know the creator, I mean, it is obvious knowledge, who doesn’t know the creator?” I would like to invite you to study with me the scriptures and by the end we will realize we have been as brutes, not knowing our creator, our owner. To know the creator goes deeper than memorizing Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God CREATED the heaven and the earth.” I can assure you every Israelite knew the verse but the Lord through the prophet Isaiah says in the third verse of the first chapter that “The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master’s crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.” The same cry is made by the Lord regarding His people today? How does the Lord want us to know him?
The psalmist puts it clear “know ye that the Lord he is God: It is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people and the sheep of his pasture” Psalms 100:3. We are to acknowledge Him as our maker, yea even our Creator. It is interesting to note, that whenever in the Holy Scriptures God wants to distinguish Himself from other gods, He points us to creation. Jeremiah records “The LORD is the true God, He is the living God and an everlasting King…the gods that have not made the heavens and the earth even they shall perish from the earth.” Jeremiah 10:10, 11. In another beautiful passage, the Lord declares “To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? Saith the Holy one. Lift up your eyes on high and behold who hath created these things…” Isaiah 40:25, 26. The same is echoed in Isaiah 43:15, 45:18. It is only God who can create and by virtue of Him being creator, He is above all else.
Doubtless to say, it is His creatorship that accords Him worship. Let me restate it, we should worship Him because He is the creator.
“O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker.” Psalms 95:6.
As we contemplate on the mighty works of creation, our hearts are filled with awe and wonder. A solemn reverence rests upon us because “through faith we understand that the worlds we framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.” Hebrews 11:3. No wonder, the message for this time, Present Truth, points us to recognize the creator and worship Him, which is the message to be proclaimed to all nations, tongues and people as heralded by the angel in Revelation 14:6 and 7. The prophet of Patmos declares “And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell upon the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue and people, saying with a loud voice, Fear God and give glory to Him; for the hour of His judgment is come and WORSHIP HIM THAT MADE heaven and earth and the sea and the fountains of waters.” We are called upon to worship Him that made –creator- heaven and earth.
Having seen the importance of creation (it sets God as supreme and above all other gods, it showcases His mighty power), let us now look at, WHO IS THE CREATOR?
The opening statement of the scriptures is the verse “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” The divine spirit inspired Moses, to begin the sacred record with this sublime truth. If that statement is not true, then everything in the bible would be false. We are first pointed to God as being the creator. To emphasize more on this impressive fact, we will turn to the New Testament and almost the same wording is used by John when he begins his gospel account. ”In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” At the beginning, this Word, [whom in verse 14 was “made flesh and dwelt among men, full of grace and truth” verse 17 expounds it more and reveals to us that the Word spoken of is none other than Christ ] was with God. Proceeding to verse 3 “ALL things were made by Him (the Word) and without Him was not anything made that was made.” It is crystal clear from the verse that Christ made everything. Comment cannot make this statement clearer than it is.
Still more emphatic is the record by the apostle Paul to the Colossians. Speaking of Christ, in whom we have redemption, he writes “For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in the earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him and for Him.” Colossians 1:16. This wonderful text should be keenly studied and often contemplated. It is a glorious truth CHRIST MADE EVERYTHING. Therefore all things depend on Him for existence. “He is before all things and by Him all things consist.” Verse 17. One more statement, to make this sink into the mind. It is the testimony of the father himself. In the first chapter of Hebrews we find God the father addressing the son as follows: “But unto the Son He saith, Thy throne O God, is for ever and ever: a scepter of righteousness is the throne of thy kingdom.” And God says further “And, thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundations of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands.” Hebrews 1:8-10. The Father is simply declaring to the son that “You are the Creator of Heaven and Earth.”
Now, if the Father gives this honor to the Son, what is man, that He should withhold it? With this we may well leave the testimony concerning that fact that He is creator of all things. Only by regarding Christ, in His rightful position as our creator, do we honor Him. We honor the Father in honoring the Son. Let none think that by exalting the Son we belittle the Father’s supremacy, Nay, Never! For the Bible states “God created all things by Jesus Christ” Ephesians 3:9. So it pleased the Father that in Him should all the fullness dwell. Their interests are one. Thus the object of this study was to set forth Christ’s rightful position as creator and lead us to “worship Him that made heaven and earth and the sea and the fountains of waters.”
